One of the greatest problems in history is that the concepts of love and power have usually been contrasted as opposites- polar opposites- so that love is identified with a resignation of power and power with a denial of love. Now we’ve got to get this thing right. What is needed is a realization that power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic.

Sometimes it is the process of doing that makes things clear. If we don’t start, we never know what could’ve been. Sometimes the answers we find while searching are better or more creative than anything we could have imagined before.
Lynn Cox in Grayson
Lynn’s other book Swimming to Antarctica is one of the most inspirational books I have ever read. She is a woman who has united people in cultures around the world simply by following her passion of swimming. Really. A formula so absurd no fiction writer would propose it, yet a formula so true to the idea that when we awaken and follow our passions greater things than we could ever imagine do happen.

In the west…they show us the “on” switch, but they never show us the “off” switch. And so you’re left, especially at the end of a university degree, as a thinking machine at the mercy of only one faculty in the way of getting knowledge. The other faculty, that quiet listening (self hypnosis) and the trust that out of the deeper mind profound answers come, is not taught.
